I spent Memorial Day/Figawi weekend on Nantucket with Beth, Megan and Ryan.  My friends are the best!  So many hilarious things happened that wouldn't translate if I shared them here, but we loved our three nights together.  We walked around town, had some great meals out, enjoyed daily naps, saw a drunk girl fall ("that sh*t cray!"), spent the day at Quidnet where Ryan had a surprise swim with a seal, fought the masses at the bars, avoided eye contact with people we disliked in high school, Megan slid into home base (the bathroom) on her hip, we listened to all of Ryan's favorite music (particularly "Drank In My Cup"), we watched Megan chair dance in her sunglasses while singing along to Gotye (she knew all the lyrics), I read ghost stories ("they were hootin', hollerin' and dashin' around like little boys do"), we impersonated some of our very favorite people ("go get your brother Rocco!") and we laughed 'til our bellies hurt all weekend long.

We took a work field trip today to visit the National Stationery Show.  It was an opportunity to check out all the current trends in stationery, visit and catch up with those we know in the industry and spy on some of our competitors.  We saw thousands of beautiful things and lots of not-so-beautiful things too.  Designs were either oh-my-god-I-have-to-have-that-right-now... or... blech-there-are-no-words-for-how-ugly-that-is.  Stationery can be really tacky.  Working at Dabney Lee has turned me into a stationery snob, but I just can't help it!  Below are a few of the beautiful things I saw today.

MIXED BERRY SMOOTHIE (400 calories)

Ingredients:

1 scoops vanilla protein powder

1 cup strawberries

2 Tbsp pecans

1 cup cottage cheese

1 cup blueberries

1 Tbsp Chia seeds (loaded with healthy omega-3 fats and pack 5g fiber per tablespoon)

1.5 cups water

3 ice cubes

Directions: Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. For a thicker shake, add less water or more ice cubes.
